ElysianField...the Grounds Summer 2001
ElysianField is situated on two acres of land in Prince Edward County, Ontario Canada. We are 20 minutes south of Belleville off Hwy 62, 45 minutes from Kingston, three hour s from Ottawa, and two hours from Toronto.
Every once in a while one has a land mark year. For us it is 2001. We were very pleased to get American Championship titles for our two male dogs, which are the basis of our breeding programme. We decided to put up the kennel, re- furbish the grounds, and replace the septic system.
Ron’s Aunt and Uncle Pauline and Henry, our daughter Sydney and her friend Tim have been an immense help in erecting the new kennel building. Much of the work to date has been split male/female, as I know nothing about putting up a building. When the girl’s aren’t fetching and carrying for the guys we are working on the grounds and adding to the perennial bed. Pauline and I started by weeding and adding to the perennial bed. Sydney and I continued by weeding and replanting the shade bed underneath the maple tree. Next we prepared the rose garden f or planting next year, and the peony bed got a good going over. We have decided to put up a rock garden, flag-pole and water garden, incorporating a large tree stump into the design. This will be done in two stages with the rock garden started first. The bed is being prepared for planting next spring. A very talented wrought iron worker custom designed the railing for the new porch. We installed it while waiting for materials to be delivered.
